The Detroit Lions Feature Twirlers perform for the last time at the Pontiac Silverdome.
The tradition of having baton twirlers perform for all Detroit Lions Professional Football home games began in the 1950's when the Lions played at the old Tiger Stadium. Twirlers were a tradition, and to twirl at a football game, was a well-sought after honor for any Michigan Baton Twirler.
Below, the last set of Detroit Lions Twirlers. The move of the football team to the new Ford Field Downtown saw many changes, including the elimination of the twirlers and the high school cheerleaders, to the disappointment of many.
